Farmer & Irwin’s design team has years of experience providing building information modeling using programs that bring a project from a 2 dimensional print to a virtual 3D model. Critical information can be entered into the model by all trades before beginning construction, assisting in collision detection in the early planning stages. As the modeling progresses and design changes are contemplated material and labor factors are automatically estimated and computed. This provides job costing in real time to the “what if” factor of the design. Opportunities to pre-fabricate or pre-assemble some systems off-site can be gleaned from the model. These programs allow Farmer & Irwin to offer value engineering in design build and negotiated budget projects.
